beautiful与pretty的区别

pretty和beautiful在汉语的意思上没有太大的分别。但是在英语里有不同，后者的程度比较深。beautiful只能做形容词，修饰名词，做定语。而pretty除此种用法外，还能做副词 = very， 如That’s a pretty good ideal。

He had three pretty, vivacious daughters.

他有三个活泼漂亮的女儿。

A pretty young girl came hurtling down the stairs.

一个漂亮的小女孩从楼梯上冲下来。

Venice is a beautiful city full of culture and history.

威尼斯是一座具有深厚文化和历史底蕴的美丽城市。

They\'re both beautiful ─ I can\'t make up my mind.

两个都很漂亮——我难以决定。
