以a开头的形容词做后置定语

英语中有些以a-为词首的形容词做定语时，常后置在被修饰语后面。

如

alive活着的;

asleep 睡着的; 睡熟的；

alike相似的; 相同的

There is little hope that they will be found alive.

活着找到他们的希望很渺茫。

We don\'t know whether he\'s alive or dead.

我们不知道他是死是活。

When she finally fell asleep, she began to dream.

她终于睡着了，并开始做梦。

The sound of his breathing told her he was asleep.

她从他呼吸的声音中听出来他睡着了。
