一定范围内三者或三者以上，泛指另一个，用another。一定范围内或两个人（物）中，特指剩下的另一个用the other（可接单数可数名词）。指别的人或物时，用other。即当在一定范围内，除去一部分后，剩余部分但不是全部时，也用others。
other的例句We see each other every now and again（我们偶尔相见）；another的例句We all try and help one another（我们都尽力互相帮助）；the other的例句The other one was much too expensive（另一个太贵了）。
