except和except for的区别

1、从形式上看,except后面不仅可以接短语,还可以接that引导的从句,而except for后面只能接名词短语；

2、从内容上看,except表示“同类中除此以外”而except for则是“不同类中的除此以外”如

We all went to the park except Mary.

除Mary外我们都去公园了

had nothing on except for my socks.

我除了短袜什么都没穿。

The walls were bare except for a clock.

墙上除了一只挂钟什么也没有。

I didn\'t tell him anything except that I needed the money.

我什么都没告诉他，只是说我需要钱。

We work every day except Sunday.

我们除星期天外每天都工作。
