用作介词，注意以下用法

表示时间，意为“在……以前”，其后只能接点时间或具有点时间意义的其他名词，而不能接一段时间。如

I’ll be back before five (o’clock). 我5点前回来。

表示在两者中选择其一，意为“宁可……而不愿……”。如

(2) 泛指“以前”，不与具体时间连用，可完成时或过去时连用。如

I (have) read the book before. 我以前读过这本书。
