the police是单数还是复数
the police指警察这个官方机构，是单数形式的复数名词，所以前面要用定冠词the，后面跟动词的复数形式。police须用their等复数代词指代，可受these，most，several，many等表示不确切的量词修饰，也可受2以上基数词修饰，但不可用a或one修饰表示单个警察。
The police log all phone calls.
警方对所有电话都做记录。
He was manacled by the police.
他被警察上了镣铐。
He\'s in trouble with the police.
