一、含义不同
silent
adj. 安静的；不吵闹的；沉默的；无言的。
silence
n. 沉默；寂静。vt. 使安静；使沉默。
二、用法不同
silent
silent还可作“不发音”解，作此解时无比较级和最高级形式。
silent在句中常用作定语或表语，偶尔也可作宾语补足语。silent作表语时，后常接介词on〔about〕引起的短语，表示“对…保持沉默，对…未提到”。
Would you be good enough to keep silent?

The old house was quite silent.
这所旧房子非常寂静。
silence
silence还可作“寂静时刻，期间”解。常用来表示一段有具体内容的沉默的时间，作此解时是可数名词。
silence用作动词时意思是“使沉默”，可指人使喧闹的场面安静下来，也可指人采取高压手段来压制某人的言论，这种结果有可能成功,也可能无效。
silence是及物动词，接名词或代词作宾语,可用于被动结构。
We interpreted his silence as a refusal.
我们认为他的沉默是拒绝的表示。
His forceful arguments reduced his opponents to silence.
他那有力的论点驳得对手哑口无言。
Silent和silence区别
主要是形容词和名词的区别，不过silence还能做动词：silentadj. 形容词
1、寂静的; 无声的 The cat moved on silent feet. 那只猫无声地走动着。
2、沉默的 He is a silent type. 他是个沉默型的人。
3、不发音的 The “e” in “ time” is a silent letter. time中的e不发音。 silencen.名词1.寂静; 无声Now and then a bird\'s song broke in upon the silence of the wood. 鸟鸣声不时打破林中的寂静。
